When you check the time, do you ever find it to be precisely 11:11? Maybe you bought a $2.22 cup of coffee just after realising that your favourite song is exactly two minutes and twenty-two seconds long. These are known as “angel numbers,” and in the metaphysical realms where I and other practitioners like me work, coincidences don’t exist (I even came up with the acronym for this phrase, TANC, in 2019 and it’s since become something of a catchphrase). An excellent illustration of this TANC phenomena may be found in the study of angel numbers. Instagram is rife with allusions to angel numbers, Witchtok (and Astrologytok and Manifestationtok, for that matter). What do they imply then? Tell us what they tell us. Also, what methods may we use to cooperate with them? I said, “Shall we?”

In other words, what are angel numbers?
Angel numbers are sequences of numbers (typically three or four numbers) that include repetition (such as 111 or 4444) and/or patterns within numerology (such as 321 or 8787). Numbers like this, even when they pop up in the most mundane of settings, never fail to capture our attention and, if only for a second, make us stop and ponder what they mean. It is the symbolic significance of these sequences that captivates us; many people take them to be signs from the spiritual cosmos meant to provide knowledge and guidance. Angel numbers, whether you attribute them to angels, guides, ancestors, spirits, or simply a higher state of your own consciousness, can reassure you that you’re on the right track, provide clarity on a murky situation, and explain the deeper, more profound significance of recurrent themes in your life.

The usefulness and relevance of repeating numbers have been known for centuries. The ancient Greek philosopher Pythagoras was not only an exceptional mathematician, but also held the view that physical reality is a materialisation of the energetic vibration of numbers. Some thousand years later, in the early 2000s, an author called Doreen Virtue produced hundreds of books on “angel numbers,” coining the phrase and examining the unique, mystical meanings baked into number sequences. Over the last two decades, this idea has swept the metaphysical world. Angel numbers have left an indelible mark on our awareness, whether we interpret them as messages from angels or as confirmations from our own subconscious.

What is it about angel numbers that makes them so unique?
In contrast to certain other occult rituals, angel numbers have nothing to do with your date of birth. Angel Numbers aren’t based on your date, time, or place of birth like the zodiac signs, astrological birth charts, and even your life path number in numerology. Angel numbers don’t reveal who you are so much as how you’re now interacting with the world; in contrast, the characteristics associated with your zodiac sign might provide information about your likes and dislikes, interests, and preferences. One further essential quality of angel numbers is their malleability: Angel numbers may be persistent, appearing often over the course of years, or they can be fleeting, appearing just once. A long-term relationship is not more relevant than a one-time observation when it comes to seeing this mystical signature; what matters is that you’re paying attention.

Of course, numerology is also subjective, just like everything else in the metaphysical realm (astrology, tarot, palm reading, etc.). My favourite part about being a metaphysical practitioner in the modern day is the widespread emphasis placed on individual action, free choice, and responsibility. The more you know, the more comfortable you will be developing your own thoughts, perceptions, and interpretations, thus resources shouldn’t be prescriptive but rather, viewpoint. Don’t be hesitant to draw on your own truths as you strengthen your connection with spirituality; the way you perceive and experience mysticism is completely unique to your own world.

Angel numbers — where can you find them?
Angel numbers are so mystical because they often show up in the unlikeliest of places. Numerology and angels both make appearances in the form of timekeeping devices. Addresses, phone numbers, and car registrations all feature them. Even in mundane things like shopping receipts and airline itineraries, angel numbers could be sending you a message. One explanation is frequency illusion, while another is TANC: Seeing angel numbers in everyday life is a sign from the spiritual cosmos that you’re progressing through a period of life that is more momentous than it may seem on the surface. You must complete this task. You can count on it serving some greater good. Even more so when the future is cloudy and uncertain, the presence of an angel number may be comforting. The emergence of angel numbers is a message that, to paraphrase Kris Jenner (who may or may not be the guardian angel of Calabasas, California), “you’re doing wonderful, sweetheart!”

When a person receives a certain number, what does it mean?
It’s one of my favourite things about angel numbers because their significance may vary from person to person. For instance, the number “333” might be interpreted in many ways depending on the individual receiving the message. I suggest pausing when you see an angel number, pulling out a piece of paper (or your phone’s notes feature), and writing down any insights, ideas, or feelings that come to mind. Doing so will allow you to develop a personal connection to the angel number and prepare you for any future occurrences of that sequence.

However, in numerology, each number has its own symbolic significance, and you can use this knowledge to your advantage as you forge your own connection to angel numbers by delving into the potent spiritual meanings of certain digit sequences.

000 or 0000
The number zero represents fresh beginnings. The appearance of zero at the end of a series (be it three, four, or a pattern) may herald a new beginning. Since you’re at the start of a completely new cycle, you’re free to make anything you choose. In this crucial juncture in your journey, you must not be hesitant to make courageous choices.

111 or 1111
The number one is a potent symbol of manifestation. There is a common belief that the “greenlight” from the cosmos is given when one encounters one as an angel number (in a set of three, four, or inside a pattern). The present and the future are dynamically linked at this time because you are working with amazing assistance from your angels, guides, or ancestors.

222 or 2222
The number two is symbolic of harmony, agreement, and stability. Two in a row (or in a set of three, four, or a pattern) might be a sign that an unseen guide is assisting you in your physical or ethereal travels. If you keep getting the number two, it may be a sign that you should reach out to your closest friend or confidant to see if you can work with the gods to accomplish anything.

333 or 3333
Creative magnetism may be seen in a number three. Seeing the angel number three (alone, in a group of three or four, or as part of a pattern) might be a sign that you have the chance to contribute your special skills and knowledge to a problem. Six (in a group of three or four, or inside a pattern) has a helpful, sympathetic, and empathic attitude, despite the fact that some people may dread it due of religious connotations with the Devil or demon images. There’s nothing like a gentle, much-needed reminder, and the number six may serve as just that. Things may not always go as planned, but with angel number six at your side, you can decide how you want to look at things, knowing that everything occurs for a purpose.

777 or 7777
Angel numbers, like gambling odds, always favour the number seven. If you keep seeing the number seven as part of a sequence of three or four, or in a pattern, it may be a sign that financial success is on the horizon. The number seven encourages you to look beyond your current circumstances for potential financial gains. Integrating your faith and principles is the best way to convey this energy, since short-term engagements may turn into stable revenue streams if you do it well.

The number eight is considered one of the most sacred in numerology, and seeing it appear as part of a group of three, four, or in a pattern may be interpreted as a sign of a profound connection to the spiritual cosmos. Those who have faith in a hereafter may interpret the appearance of the number eight as a message of encouragement from loved ones who have passed on. Do not be hesitant to trust your instincts when the angel number eight comes since it is fundamentally the sign of eternity, the eternal circle that transcends any one lifetime.

The occurrence of the number nine, the last digit in numerology, is a strong indicator that the current story arc is nearing its conclusion.
