Aries (March 21 – April 19)
It should come as no surprise that the first sign in the zodiac is Aries, as this bold sign thrives on the spotlight. Aries is a risk taker who will go headlong into any circumstance, no matter how difficult (which is appropriate, since the body part associated with Aries is the head). Aries, like fellow fire signs Leo and Sagittarius, is a driven, self-assured, and charismatic leader whose positive outlook and dogged persistence are invaluable to the success of any group they’re trying to unite. Their lack of complexity and directness makes them easily annoyed by superfluous complexities and lengthy explanations. Their disposition is mirrored in their sexual preferences, which favour the fast and filthy.

Because of its position as the first cardinal sign, Aries ushers in not only the season of rebirth known as spring but also the whole zodiac. According to astrology, each sign takes on the teachings of the signs that came before it, both the good and the bad. But Aries has no such accumulated knowledge; instead, they lead with unbridled optimism, charging headlong through life with an explosive sense of humour that matches their signature impulsiveness to a tee.

These Leos deliberate after they’ve taken action, which may lead to some painfully learned lessons. The sign of Aries is associated with independence (its opposite sign, Libra, emphasises harmony in relationships). Rams have a “everyone for themselves” mentality. While Aries’s drive to succeed on their own terms is admirable, it’s important for them to guard from being self-absorbed.

As the Roman god of battle, the fiery red planet Mars is the ruler of Aries. This means that these brave rams are always prepared to fight. Because of their violent anger, Aries are best avoided until the smoke has cleared. When these brash bulls aren’t losing it, however, they’re the kind of people that relish every moment of life. An Aries is the kind of person who is constantly doing something impressive, whether it’s dominating on the sports field, racing down the highway, or leading a lively party game.
